With the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness Area and the Visitor’s Center located nearby, it’s the perfect area for family adventures! For camping near Ontonagon, Silver City, or the Porcupine Mountains, you shouldn’t hesitate to visit Union River’s ‘Big Bear’ Campground – it’s a great place to make new memories!

Located 15 miles west of Ontonagon, Michigan, at the entrance to the Porcupine Mountain State Park. The Visitor’s Center is just around the corner and Lake Superior’s sandy beach is just across the road, thus ensuring hours of sightseeing and great activities. Whether you’re an adventurer or a calm explorer type, there are various activities available. Take your friends and family canoeing or kayaking all over Lake Superior, all the while admiring the scenery. If you want to flex your muscles and challenge yourself, you can go hiking or backpacking on the various trails throughout the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park.
