Located at the entrance to the Porcupine Mountain State Park.

15 miles west of Ontonagon and 2 miles west of Silver City on 107th Engineers Memorial Hwy, at the base of the beautiful Porcupine Mountains, by the sandy shore of Lake Superior. Watch for the big carved bear on the left!

Located at the entrance to the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park with over 90 miles of hiking trails to enjoy, the sandy beach of Lake Superior, the Summit Peak high point, and numerous waterfalls along the Presque Isle River!

About Us

Union River’s Campground is a piece of heaven. It’s situated near Lake Superior and the Porcupine Mountains, thus ensuring hours of sightseeing and great activities. Whether you’re an adventurer or calm explorer type, there will always be a piece of activity for you.

Location

We are located 2 miles west of Silver City on State Hwy M-107 just past the entrance sign to the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. Watch for the carved wooden bear on the left hand side of the highway.

Amenities

Quiet, shady, spacious sites, surrounded by forest. All sites have power. Back-in and pull-thru sites with power & water available. Paved driveway throughout. Graveled sites with picnic tables & fire pits. Very nice indoor restroom & shower building. Firewood & Ice for sale, drinks & snacks available in the camp store.

Activities

The soft, sandy beach of Lake Superior is within walking distance of the campground for your swimming, picnicking, sunbathing, and beachcombing enjoyment. The churning waves bring deposits of colorful agates and rocks, gnarled driftwood and Yooperlites.

Awesome place to stay!! Loved the clean bathroom and shower. Nice and quiet. Owners are great. We could hear Lake Superior. Walked across the road and you can swim or walk The shoreline. Will come back.

Best campground ever! We were turned away from the State park, and were so glad they were full… we stayed 2 nights! Clean, warm showers, mowed sites, electric, water,….even shampoo and conditioner in the showers! Perfect getaway!

Wonderful campground for all!

Union River’s Big Bear Campground is an excellent campground for all. A relaxing stop along your journey, the entire family will enjoy the calming sights and sounds of nature as you end your day with a colorful sunset and warm crackling campfire.

Marvel at the awesome scenery of Lake Superior and it’s surroundings! The Porcupine Mountains also add to the scenic touch. Whether you enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool water of Lake Superior or an exhilarating hike up the mountain, we have it all! Or maybe you seek high octane activities? You can go fishing, boating and kayaking! Move your paddles as you brave the torrents of water against all directions! A challenging disc golf course is located nearby, and if you enjoy geocashing , this is the place!
